Addressing Period Poverty with Comfort Care Kits
Period poverty, the inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products, severely impacts the health, well-being, and dignity of countless women and teens. To provide relief and foster community spirit, we’ve organized a service project creating Comfort Care Kits for those struggling to afford these essentials.
We’ve simplified donating by creating an Amazon shopping list with various menstrual hygiene products that will be turned into kits available at the Women’s History and Cultural Center. Your generous purchases will make a significant difference by providing vital items for menstrual health to those in need.
Let’s unite against period poverty and support the Comfort Care Kits project. Every donation helps ensure no one experiences the distress caused by the lack of menstrual products. Thank you for your support in making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

Workday Wednesdays at Riverpoint
Fresh air, laughter, camaraderie, laughter, contributing to Girl Scouting . . . laughter! This is the description of each Workday Wednesday at Riverpoint.
Projects are scheduled based on the skill/stamina level of those who are attending. There is always something for everyone. On any given day we could: trim palms, inventory different areas – kitchen – garages – tool shed, pull vines, dig vines, cut down pepper trees, clean the boat house, weed the aloe bed, touch up paint, clean picnic tables, wash windows, etc. If you have mechanical skills, there are tools to fix and machines to tune.
Volunteers can join us for a one-time, or a once a quarter/month, or every week, depending on the time they have to give. You can send your spouse and friends, or all come together. Volunteers can participate in the schedule of the day or “do their own thing”. Someone could “adopt” a part of the camp and have that as their ongoing contribution/responsibility – aloe bed, part/all of the nature trail, boat house, picnic tables, west side road, fences, grass mowing, etc.
The age range now is 53 to 75 years young. We have 40% male volunteers. Requirements are: Be a registered Girl Scout, love being outdoors in a beautiful place, and know how to laugh (or we will teach you quickly).
